At the heart of our ministry at Trinity Methodist are the bonds of love connecting us to members and friends who are in the hospital or care centers or even in their own homes, but unable to attend worship or participate in the life of the church.
Sending a card, or bringing a card while visiting, helps these friends feel they are remembered and connected to our congregation. It is a gentle ministry that requires nothing more than a loving heart, a card and a stamp. To make things easy the church will supply everything but the postage.
On the "Information Table" you will find a green box filled with cards and envelopes, organized by category -- Get Well, Birthday, Sympathy, Anniversary, Seasonal and so forth, including many cards which are blank and can be used for any purpose.
On the back of the box is a list of names of church members who are in care centers, assisted living communities or are living in their homes, but are not able to attend worship. There are also names of members who have moved to other towns, but are still lovingly remembered.
To participate in this "gentle ministry," we encourage you to peel off a name from the list, and choose a card from the box and take it from there. You may also wish to pick up a small cross that will glow in the dark, which are in a separate basket by the green box. This is an ongoing ministry, and the box of cards and list of names will be maintained and updated.
